IMAGINE PHILIPPINES MOVEMENT - as launched by SAIDI School of OD and luCin Foundation last May 30, 2009 - has stirred up an assembly about 110 individuals who were coming from a broad spectrum of orientations and persuasions. A day of positive conversations on ‘that moment when i felt most proud to be a Filipino’ sparked high, contagious energy. The participants wre delightfully enlivened to celebrate with dance of joy and to take that leap of faith eliciting in them a communal awareness that, indeed, their stories gave them power to imagine and together, to build the Philippines they desire: The renowned country of choice in Asia - united, productive and with integrity. I am happy to have taken a brave participation in this movement… to be part of the beginning spark.

In speaking of the significance of Imagine Philippines Movement, Nick Perlas has this to say;

“Today’s event shows that we are convergent in vision even as as we differ in our expressions. To have us all come together in one event is an affirmation that the times are critical and there is something unusual that is wanting to happen.”

Jamie Gotangco, one of saturday’s focus group facilitators shared her reflections on the event;

I could see and feel their passion, pride, and love for the country; as evidenced by the stories they shared. I could sense their level of frustation at what is currently going on in the country. I felt we were in agreement that there is a need to go back to basics - to uphold the values of: respect for self, for one another, and for our environment; spirituality; preservation of our culture and our languages/dialects; unity; and deep understanding of our history.

… … … …

Eventually, i would like to see us personify our group’s (POD batch 1) positive proposition for our people & our country:

“Radiating the Filipino Spirit for Positive Change

We Filipinos are a postive change.

We radiate to the world an enlightened, responsible leadership in multicultural settings.

We stand with the rest of the world with pride in our innate talents, our country’s natural beauty. We are a beacon of light and faith for the world!”

Imagine Philipines Movement is definitely about preparing 20/20 vision for 2010, culturally, economically, and politically.

Imagine Philippines is also about going beyond 2010, way, way beyond. It aims to continually clarify and sharpen its focus so as to keep generating positive vision that actually gets shaped and lived… moment to moment, year by year, decade upon decade, for generations to come.
